1909 World Series Panoramic Photo

This is a 1909 World Series Panoramic Photo I thought many of you collectors may enjoy seeing. The Photo is in 5 parts. The lower left part is the Pirates team with Honus Wagner. The lower right part is the Tigers team with Hugh Jennings, Sam Crawford and some guy named Ty Cobb. The left and right upper parts are the left and right grandstands. The upper middle part is the playing field with the inscription "Cobb at bat, Crawford on deck and Jennings coaching". Nice little mention of three Hall Of Famers. This is probably the highlight of my sports collection. Hope everyone enjoys.

    Two words...

    Tre Mendous!!!

That must look great on the wall! I have nothing in a program that old - I would be proud to pick something like that up.

Did you pick it up at one of the recent auctions?

Thanx for sharing - great experience.

Great piece! Those old panoramic photos are great. The attendance at that game was 29,264, about 4,000 over capacity. Cobb had a tough game that day, going 0-3 with an error. The Pirates won 4-1 in a game that took 1 hour and 55 minutes!

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the compliments. I picked this up about 18 years ago in a trade from a friend who was trying to sell it for one of his friends. His friend wanted $300.00 for it so basically I traded about $300.00 worth of 1950 Bowmans (vg to ex that I paid about $100.00 for) to my friend who in turn gave his friend $300.00 cash. All three of us were happy with the deal. I am still very happy to own it as I have never seen another.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Looking for Carl Willey items.
  • Great photo. There is a panorama of, I believe, the 1909 Tigers that was done early in the season with Ty Cobb on both ends of the picture. The camera used to have a motor on it that would swing around, and after Ty had his picture taken on the left he ran around the camera and stood on the right side........

Yes I remember that photo with Cobb at both ends. Pretty interesting how they did things back then.

Wow, did most old parks have that much foul territory? I guess a pitchers park to say the least.

    That one looks excessive Matt.

But, also, if you look at a lot of old shots around the early 1900s and up, you'll see the reporters right on the field of play - taking pictures!
