What's the better Lincoln buy (PCGS graded): 1929 MS66RD or 1938-S MS67RD???

Just curious what the Lincoln collectors out there would consider the better coin to buy and hold for the next several years, a 1929 in MS66RD or a 1938-S in MS67RD? Thanks, 39Special

I prefer the 1929 in MS66RD. I like that date in coin collecting in terms of financial history.

Neither. Go for a 35-S in 66. It might cost a little more, but the long term up side is way better IMHO.

I always heard, "if ya don't know the answer, don't answer"...

    So I'll tell ya:

    The more the merrier

I'll take all the 67's along the way and I am not even a collector of Lincolns. I prefer 67, just because I like the subtle differences between them and a 68 versus the huge differences betweeen a 66 and 67 on so many occasions.
But, if you buy the coin and not the plastic... you'll have to determine the grade through it yourself. Another speculative thought is the PRICE GUIDE. I'd imagine the lower pop is where I'd head when considering the HOUSING dept.....

  • I like the 1938-S date, have purchased that in MS66 in other varieties than Lincolns, and really in this case am only interested in it in MS67RD because it's not rare at all in MS66 but...I think the 1929 MS66RD is the way to go in this case. I think the earlier decade, even in a grade lower, will have a faster appreciation, and I'll probably appreciate it more, too!
