MS70 copper experiment on the 1909 I found in a roll last week.

Tried an experiment on the corroded 1909 wheatie I found in a roll last week. Put some MS70 on it the other day with a Qtip and let it sit on the coin while, then rinsed and placed in album. It has now devopled quite a bit of blueish/purple toning, and more of the faint mint luster is visible. Looks a little better than the corrosion it started with here:

I didn't snap a picture of the reverse before I started, it had some corrosion as well, but not as bad as obverse. Here are the after shots:

    Interesting, you should try adding heat. I did an experiment with a brown wheatie and lemon juice and a candle lighter and the coin got all its red lustre back.

    Hmn, never heard of the lemon juice, read about the frying pan method of heat once here. I was just happy to get some of that growth off the back of Lincoln neck.
