I've heard that Rizzuto's health isn't that good. I have a friend that saw him at his home in NJ about 4 months ago but hasn't seen him since. I think he is planning to move to Florida to be with his daughter, if he hasn't done so already.

Rizzuto is the oldest living HOF'er and one of the last links to the DiMaggio Yankee teams.

I almost hate to see a living legend like Rizzuto dump his stuff. I suppose I should think that it's his memories that matter to him - and WS rings are just things.
I don't know.

I'm not surprised at the auction. It probably is better for him to sell rather than pass any inheritance tax on to his daughter, although I'm always surprised when the kids don't want to keep something. I would hate to see my dad's MVP trophy sold, but it seems like all this stuff ends up on Mastro or Sotheby's sooner or later.
