Yankees are on a roll in their most decisive series of the 2006 season...

So far, it's 3-0. Yankees have outscored 39-20 so far in the series. Johnson put in a good run of it today, and Damon continues to show that he's once again healthy. AL East lead is up to 4.5 games.

I just hope they dont give away these last 2 games and let the momentum of the first 3 be forgotten. They need to kick Boston to the ground while they have the chance and demoralize them to the point where they cant come back and make a run.

The Sox spent 80 plus years choking. image Just be thankful the Yankees choked when they did. Or else you would have nothing to say image

  • Yes, the Yankees are certainly in high gear. During the rain delay John Kruk said that he does not think the Red Sox will make the playoffs this year.

Yesterday was the first time since the 1927 Murderers Row Yankee days that the Yankees scored double digit runs in 3 consecutive games in Fenway. Also it is the first time that any team has scored 12 or more runs against the Red Sox in Fenway.

IF Matsui and/or Sheffield come back in September the Yankees are going to have a big decision to make because I don't know how they can take Melky's bat out of the line up as well as his rocket arm out of Left Field. I think next year the Yankees will not take Sheffield's option year, and will make Matusi a fulltime DH with some stints in LF. I think they will also keep Bernie for pinch hitting and occassional OF duties.

Why is Torre playing Green tonight ? I would rather see Mussina take his hacks at the plate than this guy. He is an automatic out against Schilling.

Joe picked some night to give Arod a day off at 3rd.

  • Green had some nice plays at 3rd. Plays our regular 3rd baseman may have had issues with.
  • Ohhhhhhh, don't like the decision to walk the bases loaded with only 1 out...hope I'm wrong...
  • YAY! I was wrong! To extra innings...

    Wrong !

Dan, I get what you are trying to say, but no need to show valor here. The Yanks dont win and its just another crappy loss IMO !!!

    Brian,

Bye Bye Red Sox. You have done a fine job for a team with a truly pitiful pitching staff image

  • OH YEAH!!! That was a GREAT game! And speaking of great, wasn't it nice to hear on Miller & Joe Morgan both refer to Mo as the greatest closer ever? Poor jonathan Papelbon looked like he felt bad getting beat by Yanks...he shouldn't, there's no shame in it, lots of people do it all the time!
  • The Baby Bombers really came through tonight. Melky set up the inning to get the double so Jeter could eventually get the tieing run in. Also Cano got a key hit to be on base for insurance runs when Posada hit his HR.

I thought Torre made a big blunder by talking Abreu out and putting Bernie in RF. Abreu has on of the best arms in baseball and everybody knows that Bernie has a weak arm. It didn't cost them but could have when Papi made the gutsy move to go to 2nd.

Ortiz is GREAT. But I will take what Jeter does EVERY MOTHER F'ING NIGHT. Jeter 's bloop hit off Papelbon is the type of thing he does so often. the bases clearing double, the great plays at Shortstop, etc, etc, etc

All is well. They pulled it off and now take the first 4 in fenway. Hope all the Sox fans on here are getting prepped for their Yankee icons.

Its painfully obvious why the Sox couldnt pull away when the Yankees had all those injuries...their pitching flat out stinks.

The fork is now being firmly applied, its over, done with, see ya sox, have fun golfing this october.

    Bri,

Sox fans are prepping for emergency mode, We will now here how tough of a time the Yanks will have in the post season. They will not say a word about placing the Yankees in 3rd place behind the Sox and Blue Jays anymore ...... and we won't hear about how the Yankees brass did not "PREPARE for what has happened to them" way back when the Sox actually had a FOUR game lead in this division.

I will say that I would NEVER be so confident in the Red Sox demise if it was not for the just pathetic pitching they have had since Wakefield went down and the pen has been over worked because guys like Josh Beckett have been flops.

Bri...cummon....anyone who lives in New England and follows the Sox has been doing this since birth!! lol

    Ok..ONE World Series....they had a great year....HAD...

A true Sox fans remembers years and years of getting ahead only to blow the entire season in September. They can put up all the numbers that they want...but without the W column nothing else matters.
