Do you think the value of the 1992 Stadium Club Favre...

card will drop anytime soon? Its card #683, not the rc. Its currently listed in the smr at $500.00 for a psa 10. I am thinking of buying one for $400.00 but am afraid of it doing what the Marshall Faulk sp rc did when I bought it. That card dropped tremendously and if I waited another couple months I would have saved a few hundredimage
Favre obviously has a larger fan base and people are willing to pay for his cards. I just dont want to make another mistake.
So, what do you guys think?

thanks
Matt

I saw one sitting on a dealer's table at the National for $300, so I wouldn't go anywhere near this card at $400.

  • It's a second year card, nothing worthy of it's price. TRUST me, there are hundreds if not more cases unopened in warehouses. Buying at that price will NOT be a good investment, imo.
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

It really is a TOUGH card...but, I agree that 400 is too much. It will go down. When? Who knows but I cant see it hanging at that for a long time.

You may even want to consider finding a box of series 3 to crack yourself. I would imagine you would get 2-3 of those Favres. Take a chance at your own grades????

The 92 is more scarce than his rookie because it was a high #. Probably the most scarce card of Favre of the major companies. I cant remember if it was in series 2 or 3 though, Does anyone know?

Series 3...yes, they are pretty tough to track down.

Any hard proof of this otherwise I say you are wrong!
  • Current market value has the card at about $350 +/- $25 (at least according to the last eBay sale that I remember seeing).

Starting at about Christmas time last year, there was a rediculous run on 1992 Stadium Club Favre BGS 9.5s. So much so, that the bottom has fallen out of those, and they can't even sell for $300 anymore. With that said, the PSA 10 version will pull in more $$$ currently due to the availablity of the card. BGS 9.5s can be had anywhere and everywhere. PSA 10s can't be. Check the population reports to see what I am talking about.

Will the card drop? Maybe slightly for the time being, and then they may go up again (sometime between the end of the season and Favre's retiement announcement). My opinion is that once Favre retires, everyone will try to cash in all at the same time, creating more supply than demand (as not many people will spend $300+ on modern cards), which could make the bottom fall out on the price, just like what has happened to the BGS 9.5 version.

I don't think the card in PSA 10 will ever fall below $250, as the population numbers just don't seem to justify a decrease in price like that, with only something like 60 getting into PSA 10 holders. They are always going to be hanging in the $350+ ballpark, in my opinion.

Then again, don't buy this card based on investment purposes (thinking of reselling at retirement or HOF time), so I think it will be a losing proposition, unless you can get it at some rediculously low price and plan to flip. Like most other modern cards, trying to use them as an investment usually doesn't work out. Most people buy modern to collect players or sets, not to sit on the cards and let the value climb. With production runs and unopened material still out there, its a break-even deal at best, IMHO.

As a side note, Matt, can I ask what that Favre card is in your signature? I only ask because I have seen alot of Favre autos before, and I am concerned about that one, but I do think it is a neat looking card. (Sorry about going OT with the question).

This card has more value than the 91 not only because it is a hi # but because it is his Packers rookie card so to speak, and not the falcons. When you look at the buyer of favre cards the green bay uni makes a big difference.

My friend that I work for I believe has had one and at most two boxes in the shop over the last 5 years I have been there. And this is coming from a shop in Milwaukee where getting $25.00 a pack would be no problem. This stuff is rare and that's a fact!
