Photography improvements - talers & roubles (huge pics)

Hi all,
I have been working to try to improve my photography, and I am headed in the right direction. I still have a ways to go, but I thought I would share some of the progress so far. I also learned to shrink the file size using Photoshop, so the new images are between 60 - 75% the original size. Sorry for the big images dialuppers.

Fantastic pictures! What is your set-up, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks! My biggest problem is that I have no consistent setup. I have the best results with natural light, placing the coins on a regular white piece of paper on the floor, and shooting it at a slight angle to avoid the camera reflection in the slab plastic. I am trying to formalize it a bit, but I honestly do not buy and sell enough to have the repetitive practice.

That is my problem, as well. I have taken some great pictures, but it was achieved by trial-and-error and I doubt I can re-create what I used to get those pictures. I remember at some point having 5 books stacked with a coin on top, slightly tilted away from a light source, with a hand-held piece of glass reflecting the light onto the coin ....

anyway ...

I think it's time (for me, at least) to invest in a photo stand....

BTW, you are starting to lure me into Russian coinage with some of these coins you post And I promised myself never to be the "Russian collecting Russian coins" stereotype, but DON'T YOU DARE STOP!
