Large writing on card gets a PSA 6 (MK)?

Take a look at this auction Ripken PSA 6 (MK). The card has the name "Bridget" written on the back in large letters. Does it seem right that a card should be allowed to be graded that high, even with a qualifier? Does that mean if I took an otherwise Gem Mint PSA 10 card and wrote my name on the back, I could potentially get a PSA 9 (MK)? Does that seem right to you? Does PSA take into consideration the size of the mark, or is one mark, large or small, the same as any other?
I collect PSA cards of the following:
Billy Ripken
Cal Ripken, Jr. 1980-2002
Cal Ripken, Sr.
Hall of Fame Rookies

I don't see why not, if there is no indentation from the writing (decreasing the actual state of the card). Just let the buyers choose what is acceptable to them.

On another note, I wonder how many of the bidders have the intention of cracking, erasing, and submitting?

I think they do. I mean if you have the tiniest little speck of a pencil dot on the back of a card, you will probably "get away" with it. But marks are marks - size independent. I really do not have any problem with this. In pre-war cards, there are numerous examples that have writing on the back. As long you know its there - it is up to the seller to disclose, and the buyer to assess whether or not they care, or how much $$$ they card

Okay. Let's say I crack PSA 10 card out, write my name on it in black Sharpie on the back, being careful not to "dent" the surface, would I potentially receive a PSA 9 (MK)? To me a mark on a card is horrible and a card shouldn't be allowed to have a grade above a certain point with a mark, but that's just me I guess. To me a card cannot be deemed EX-MT with writing on it. It seems like the minimum grade it should get is 4 or below. Essentially a mark is an alteration, how can a card get a PSA 6 with an alteration?

Seems like that wouldn't be worthwhile, wouldn't the card come back as "Altered" for sure?

    Mariotown:

That's the whole point of qualifiers, isn't it? A PSA 9 MC is a card that has perfect corners, perfect colors, but is cut 100/0 or worse. It's the whole point of a qualifier - because otherwise the card would be a PSA 1 because of centering.

Technically speaking a PSA 6 MK is a PSA 4 if its registered.
