PSA 8 or PSA 9(oc)- which is better???

I am considering bidding on for a 1968 seaver card. I am uncertain for which is more valuable and should drive a higher demand/cost: a PSA 8 or a PSA 9 (oc)?? The current SMR on an 8 is $100 and, on a 9, it's $500. I just am unfamiliar with the negative impact from a card with qualifiers. Here is the current population of the card: PSA 8 - 346, PSA 9 - 46, PSA 9Q - 20, PSA 10 - none.

Post a couple of pics and you will get a more definitive answer.

<< <i>I would rather have the psa 9 oc if its centering falls within a psa 8 guideline. If it does, then you have a nicer card than a straight 8.

I can't argue if you - except depending on what one is gonna do with the card.
This past week I threw in a snipe on a 63F BB card - 9OC - I measured it was was convinced it could cross to an 8 - so if I got the card at a bargain, that was my goal - for the registry - a 9OC - gets downgraded to a 7 - so if it could be placed in an 8 holder - I would be better off.
I didn't get the card tho.

Thanks, again.
<< <i>Thanks for your help, guys. I didn't know about the PSA registry interpretting a PSA 9(oc) as a 7. Would this mean that the SMR value of a PSA 9(oc) is the equivalent of a PSA 7, too? In the case of this particular card, PSA rates the 9 at $500 and the 8 at $100...and the 7 at $55. What in your opinion would be a reasonable value for the PSA 9(oc)?

Not necessarily Seaver
A card that is severely OC - let's say nearly miscut, would probably draw way less attention on ebay than one that could get a straight 8 if someone asked for no qualifiers.

<< <i>Mike - what does "someone who is asking for no qualifiers" mean? I don't understand. Thanks. >>
I've never done it but when you submit cards to PSA - you could ask for no qualifier on the centering, e.g.
So, if one had a card that had the centering of an 8 and not a 9 - even if the card is pristine in every other way, the best grade one would get is an 8 - rather than a 9OC e.g.

I know this doesn't sound reasonable but I've seen some 9oc go for more than a 7 or 8 goes for. I think people see the 9 and get attached to it without considering the qualifier. Sort of like amateur poker players who fall in love with their Ace without considering the rag right next to it.
