Hi guys...not sure why I cant figure this out. The SMR magazine and online guides dont list which cards are SPs...they just list a different price for commons in one line at the top of the set.
In the Beckett baseball card plus magazine it lists these as Double Prints ..534,537,539,547,548,551,554,556,559,562,564,566,582,588,
589,596,599,601,608
So does this mean that every card not listed as a DP is a SP? From the pricing, this does not seem to be true. Is there really 3 categories for the high numbers...normal printed, double printed and short printed??
Any help appreciated
Jeff

The standard layout for an uncut sheet back then was 12 rows of 11 cards. I have a photo of the uncut sheet for this series and 5 rows of cards are printed twice and 2 rows of cards are printed once. The 22 single print (SP) cards (2x11) include Tom Seaver's rookie card. The other 55 cards (5x11) are the double printed (DP) cards, although the 7th series checklist is at least a triple print.
Email me at jmoran19j@hotmail.com if you would like me to send you the photo. John.

There are clearly 7 different rows of 11 cards each. The complete uncut sheet however consists of 12 rows of 11 cards each. Therefore 5 of the 7 different rows are produced in duplicate on each sheet, and 2 rows are not. So 55 cards are double printed, and 22 cards are single printed.
The correct listing of single printed cards is: 534, 539, 542, 547, 552, 553, 554, 556, 558, 562, 563, 564, 568, 581, 586, 588, 591, 596, 597, 601, 603, and 607.
All the other 55 cards are double printed.
With thanks to John Moran for providing the photo.
