PSA Authenticated Checks - Boom or Bust?

I seem to have noticed a ton of Babe Ruth checks for auction lately across the various catalogues. Is the encapsulated check market going to take off or is this just PSA looking to expand their market share. The early checks do make nice presentation pieces.

From an autograph collector's perspective - I don't think so. Autographed checks were always the standard for being an autograph that would almost never be forged/altered. That said - perhaps there might be a bump in prices if a PSA-graded check Registry takes off - but I've always viewed the check collecting community as a fairly small one. Sure, Babe Ruth and Christy Mathewson checks have and will continue to sell for big bucks, but I don't think that bump is necessarily due to PSA authenticating them. Most of these checks were in the market years ago - and they were not questioned.
