Interesting

I didn't realize that lower end modern cards were being counterfeited. I've seen a lot of cheap modern cards that were altered, but never fakes.

In less than five-years, I doubt that even PSA
will be able to easily tell for sure. The Asian
print shops work on the process all day, every day.

  • Anyone with experience in web press printing can EASILY counterfeit any modern card. You get yourself a good color guy and no one would ever know the better.

If there is a dollar to be made, somebody is going to try and make it.

I actually put together a huge list of the more common fakes if you're interested in seeing it.

A lot of the modern fakes are probably being pawned off in those grade at home deals. It's tougher to recognize differences in the card stock through a slab and the sellers know that seasoned buyers will stay away from cards graded by unknown companies.
