Is this some new kind of scam?

Okay, so I win an auction from a zero feedback seller who states they only take paypal for payment.
Never get an invoice, but I pay through paypal anyway and the funds just sit there for a week "unclaimed."

Check back on eBay and see that they are now "not a registered user".
So after a week of the funds sitting in paypal unclaimed, I cancel the payment so the seller ends up gets nothing.

A couple of days ago the cards arrived with no note or anything. Just the cards I won from the auction and ended up not paying for.
If I could read the chicken scratching on the return address, I'd be more than happy to send the seller his payment for the cards.

Are these free cards from heaven or is this some new kind of scam that's just gone way over my head ... image

Getting the cards would indicate to me that this person was just totally confused throughout this transaction and did not realize that they had to go on the Paypal site to claim the payment. Maybe you can get their email address from the cancelled Paypal transaction and ask them for a address to mail payment too.

I would guess the guy is gonna realize this didn't work right and contact you for the money?

If you don't mind, what did you pick up.

Mike - it was for some modern stuff I happen to like that was worth less than 10 bucks.
All I can figure is it was some card shop owner that decided to open an eBay account to liquidate some inventory.

He had hundreds of auctions going all at once
with really bad titles and descriptions and of course with 0 feedback.

Hey ... if eBay were easy ... everyone would be doing it ... image

You can get the sellers email addy from your PayPal
"all payees menu." It appears as a drop-down when
you sign into PayPal to make non-eBay payments.
It contains all of the addys that you have sent money
    to.

I am sure the guy just got busy and confused. It
would be good to try to pay the poor guy, IMO.

Lately, I have been messing up and sending stuff
out that has not been paid for. So far, all of the
buyers have eventually paid without a fight.

It gets extremely confusing when you are doing
sales on multiple-IDs. And, when you have a
    short attention span.
