I'm not upset at all. Just meant to say the coin has been graded by a leading TPG.

I personally would say VG10 to F12. What the TPG said, I dunno.

  • I'd say F-12 but because it's posted here on the thread I'm assuming that there's a large discreptancy - AU53 perhaps ?!?!

Just kidding - I'd say higher rather than lower so I'd go for VF 30 or perhaps one grade less.

Yeah, my VG10 was harsh. At least F12. Aside from the stray marks in the field in front of Vickie's face (a minor consideration), I really like the look of that one.

My first thought when I looked at the coins was VG, I think G is a bit harsh.

G-6? Baloney! This coin is F: readable date and some detail still visible.

Fine (F) - Moderate to heavy even wear. Entire design clear and bold.

Fine is labelled F-12 in the Sheldon scale. A lot of the details are gone, but you can still see a good deal of the design.

Very Good (VG) - Well worn. Design clear, but flat and lacking details.

Very Good is VG-8 on the Sheldon scale. The entire design is weak, but a few details are visible. Full rims are nearly always a requirement for this grade. A full rim means that you can see a line around the edge of the coin where it was raised up.

Good (G) - Heavily worn. Design and legend visible but faint in spots.

On some coins, full rims are not required for this grade. You must be able to read the date and mint mark.

In my opimion, the eye appeal of this coin should enable it to jump a few numbers usually earned on technical merit alone. Probably a bargain for the conoisseur when it will be sold. Great photo once again. image

NGC grader was having PMS that day. In my opinion, that coin is a solid F all day long. Knock off a point or two for the hits on the obverse, but then add them back for the exceptional original color. F12 all day, every day.
  • I compared it with my PCGS graded coins and would have said F12.

If ICCS gives that one VG-10, the shroom's coin is at least F-15! image

    Ajaan:

I would send it back with a letter saying G6 is likely a mechanical error and that the error should just be corrected.

The only problem with this is I'm paying for postage both ways and NGC charges a lot to return coins.
