Canadian "Special Edition" silver dollars

I just posted this on the Candian Coin discussion board.

I think the first "Special Edition" or "Limited Edition" silver dollars were the "Year of Older Persons" dollar in 1996. The most famous one so far is probably the "Queen Mum" dollar of 2002. Last year's was the "Enamel Effect" dollar.

Does anyone know what the Royal Canadian Mint has in store for us this year?

I am trying to get one of each dollar variety issued each year, but the special collector coins like the Limited Edition dollars are straining my budget. I'm left wondering if I really need the Flag Dollar type in BU, standard proof, gold-plated proof, and Enamel Effect proof for 2005 and who-knows-how-many others for 2006 of the same type.

Who else collects one of every dollar variety each year?

I collect 1 of every dollar (hopefully selected in top pop). I have many dups if you are interested, let me know what you are looking for. Walt

Who am I to go against expert opinion?

The funny thing is that the latest dollars in weird packaging and limited-edition dollars have actually been going up on the secondary market. Whodathunkit?

That's called the Shiro effect. Secondary market demand has increased from 0 to one Shiro image

That because the RCM started melting the unsold sets rather than dumping them on the wholesale market.

So if they don't dump unsold products to Gatewest Coin and other big wholesalers at half of retail price, resale prices will remain higher? Wow, I have to learn more about these radical ideas of yours.
