Paypal Buyer Protection w/o an Ebay transaction

I'm just curious what kind of protection does Paypal offer when you are not buying something off an auction site like Ebay...

I have a set I would like to buy for almost 3k but am worried that I could be had if I don't buy it directly off Ebay.

Any thoughts?

Pay through paypal using your credit card, you will have protection through your credit card company...

BP will not save you off-eBay, in most instances.

Always use a credit card with PayPal, on or off-eBay.

I agree with Storm and Zup.
Heck, even with ebay I'll always use my credit card to pay because onc can never tell when paypal will back you up.

paypal will not save you regardless!!! always use a credit card unless you know the person you are dealing with and have 100% confidence in the transaction!!
