This is brief, but good.

BTW: Turns out the eBay special listing sale of tomorrow is a ploy to get
folks to empty their stores, and then have to relist at the new higher rates.

Also, you do not get the discount until the end of September. You give
them hundreds tomorrow, they give you "credit to pay future listing
fees" at the end of September. They keep all of that cash, bloat the
books with the float right b4 reporting the end of the 3rd quarter.

eBay is so COOL !!!

  • As far as I'm concerned, it sounds like ebay has a good strategy. I've been telling the powersellers who keep complaining (on the powerseller message board) that ebay should be nothing more than a tool or part of the overall selling puzzle. There are too many variables that can't be controlled by the seller to think one can sell long term soley on ebay.

eBay is like the brilliant guy at your work...he does all the work, gets none of the credit and makes no money...eventually, he'll go out on his own and make his riches without you. eBay should make a large portion of the money you make, they are not there to help you make money or to make you rich, they want to get rich too and working that hard to make others money just isn't worth it. I can totally see their strategy.

That is pretty much ALL correct.

eBay simply needs to fire ALL of its incompetent leadership,
and it will continue to retain its #1 position. If the company
retains the current management, google could topple the
giant - if it decides to.

eBay has been poisoned in the minds of millions of people
because of the massive fraud that has been allowed to
corrupt the site. It can be repaired pretty easily, but the
current leaders are not inclined to do it. If google or MSFT
were to buy eBay, they would simply be buying a broken
company, and they would probably not be able to fix it fast.

There are dozens of people standing in the wings at eBay,
ready to assume control and do the required repairs, but
they have not yet convinced the board to allow that to happen.

I will not be at all surprised to see eBay shares well below
    $15.00 by June 2007.

Regardless of any complaints, eBay is still the best value
for sellers, and will remain so for a long time to come. If
eBay fees were 300% higher, my selling efforts would
not be impacted in a way that could not be adjusted
    quickly.

I have spots elsewhere, and none of them are any good
at all. It is doubtful that they ever will be.
