1964 Accented Hair Kennedy?

I believe this is an Accented Hair Kennedy. Am I correct?

It's in a 1964 cellophane proof set. Should I just sell the set as-is, noting the accented hair? Cut it out and sell separately? Get it graded?

Any thoughts on the white crap on the reverse? Appears to be on the coin and not the cellophane.

Thanks.

Yes, and it has the typical milk spots also.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

It is an AH. It also has some very bad milk spots on the reverse too. There are better ones out there.

I've seen worse milk spots on these.

Yes, that's an AH. In addition to the design being modified in the hair, the lower-left serif on the I in LIBERTY is truncated, a dead giveaway.

Russ, did you get "overly excited" when seeing that half? LOL

  • OK, I just looked at all 10 of my 1964 proof sets, and 2 are AH. 20%. How common are these?

The second one has milk spots on the obverse. None of the other 8 seemed to have these spots. Coincidence?

I am selling everything. I assume the best plan is to sell these two sets "as is", noting the AH coins?

    Thanks.

Can I cut these out, dip them in some secret sauce and remove milk spots? Maybe then get them graded?

What's the best secret sauce for milk spots?

I believe the spots are there to stay. Sorry.

There is no cure for the spots. I tried. Its part of the coin and the only way to remove them is by grinding them off, thus damaging the coin.image

    Milk spots are permanent.

Good pics of the broken ray reverse, also a diagnostic for the AH. Also, the doubling on In God on the obverse, particularly clear on the upper serif of the I and N? All AH's are DDO's.

Not worth the slabbing fee IMO.
