A new low for BGS..now grading "added" cards (opposite of trimmed)

Just to divert some negative attention from incessant PSA bashing, take a look at this BGS 9.5 those clowns across the street slabbed. I've heard of them grading trimmed cards, but now they're grading altered cards that had cardboard added to the card itself? Talk about desperate!! LOL

Take a look at this:

  • Before we "rush to judgment" and jump to conclusions, we should keep in mind that it's very hard to gauge the condition and dimensions of a card via a scan. I would wait until I can see the actual cards in my hands before I pass judgment and I urge the good denizens of the PSA forum to do likewise.

  • Big-How many sports card printing presses have you visited and actually witnessed the operation? My father worked on the Fleer/Pokemon plant in Raleigh-Durham back in the late 90's; these cards aren't an exact science ya know.
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

When it comes to BGS, I think it's perfectly fine to go with your gut feeling. If it smells like a rat, squeaks like a rat and eats cheese like a rat, it's probably a Red Sox fan. image

No big deal. The addition was made to make up for the trim job so the card met with minimum size requirements. Simple math.
    z - x + y = 9.5
  • Pimpin, that's just a miscut.

I've had Fleer Flair cards that were oversized.

    Pimp On.....
Nothing smoother than listening to Bob James and sipping on a glass of vintage Courvoisier! It's PIMPnificent!

This is laughable. I think you got it backwards this time DBH.
The PSA card has more room in the holder T/B. In fact, it's got a
lot of room L/R as well. I think that's the one that got a haircut.
Even if it weren't so, and let's say both cards are kosher,
it's possible that one of them is off-centered T/B

Agreed. As Dennis Leary has said in the past: "Some people laugh, and the rest need an explanation."

I'm far from an expert, but the PSA looks miscut (i.e., T/B) to me, no? image

Adding more cardboard to a modern card of that kind is either improbable, impractical or impossible?

    Or is my radar off?

it's DBH's way of saying the PSA card is trimmed..

just as every time he speaks in favor of PSA is sarcasm..

I can see Professor Turgeson from Back to School - yelling - "Say it, say it, say it!!!"

And Rodney answering - "OK, OK, I'll say it - the damned card is trimmed!"
