Home World & Ancient Coins Forum

Hello gang!

So what's happening these days in the darkside world? Nice to see some of the old familiar faces. Thought I'd drop in and say hi it will be a long time before I can again. Between my wife getting breast cancer and me being overseas (I'm home now but not for long) my collecting has been put on hold for a while, a very long while. My thoughts often drift to this forum and wonder how everyone is and what amazing newps I've missed. I've really missed you folks and I wish you all the best!!

    Hello,

    I'm new to the boards, so I have not seen you around. I just wanted to say that I pray your wife recovers quickly.

    Thanks everyone! She had surgery and they got all of the cancer. Now she must take tamoxifen for the next five years to keep it from returning with hope. As for me I have come out of my early retirement and gone back to work fulltime. I am working for a security firm that is operating in the Middle East at this time. As soon as I know all is taken care of here at home I will be returning to work. I do more consulting than hands on but I have the personal firepower to defend myself if need be. I know it's nuts but we really needed some cash in a hurry. I'm looking at about 2 more months in country then I'm finding some employment here in the states. I hate leaving my wife but she is doing well and our daughter is right here in town. Things are crazy, life is crazy!

    Thanks again for all the well wishes say hello to mac, the fungus among us, auldfart, cosmic, wybrit, the dead king and the rest of the gang for me. Hope to see you all very soon!

    Security firm that's operating in the Middle East - would that be "Black Water" ?

    I came back from over there in February of '05. Also was in security - Military Police image

    I know what you mean about "cash in a hurry". Some of those jobs pay civilians over 200K a year. Just keep your head low and hurry back. I'm sure your wife will be happy when you don't have to go back anymore.

    They do indeed grind finely. Micheál, by all means stay safe. As to your wife, tell her that my wife and I traveled the same road with breast cancer back in December of 1998; lumpectomy, lymph node removal, chemo, radiation, and the tamoxifen stint for the five years too. She's fine, and we pray your wife road to recovery will be even better.

    Never a better time than to wish you, slainte mhath.

    And, a blessing for the two of you during these times;

    Go n-éirí an bóthar leat.
    Go raibh an chóir ghaoithe i gcónaí leat.
    Go dtaitní an ghrian go bog bláth ar do chlár éadain,
    go gcuire an bháisteach go bog mín ar do ghoirt.
    Agus go gcasfar le chéile sinn arís,
    go gcoinní Dia i mbosa a láimhe thú.
