What is it? and what is it worth?

And don't say it's Canadian!! I figured that much out already!!!

It's 45 MM across and 5 MM thick!

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • The only thing it doesn't tell you is who made it, in honor of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

Have you weighed it? From the dimensions, if it is coin silver it may be a couple of ounces. image

I did a search of the Maker- PW Ellis and Co.

    Found a few

They are different from yours, though.

There was a mention of their coronation medals on another site, though.

<< <i>Many years ago when Toronto was known as York, commercial establishments were dealing with future numismatic treasures in the form of copper tokens. These tokens took the form of various sizes, weights and descriptions. Local businesses such as The Rising Sun Tavern, located where the Eaton’s Center is now and the Lesslie and Sons are good examples of early copper tokens. In later years, engravers and medallists such as P. W. Ellis and Henry Birks & Sons created some of the most beautiful tokens and medals that have ever been issued in Canada. Since 1879 when the Industrial Exhibition, now known as the Canadian National Exhibition, decided to establish an annual fair in Toronto, numerous creative medals have been presented to the winners of various events. This presentation will explore the many early tokens and medals that are so well known that relate to the City of Toronto. >>

Found this on the CNA website. image

Here's mine that I bought at this year's CNA for C$40. It has the original ribbon holder. Yours looks better. Nice pick up!

Made by PW Ellis & Co of Toronto for the 50th anniv of Vickies' reign. It is White metal.

It appears to be made out of White metal. Common for the era and type of Commemerative.image
