Love to see that silver shine...

I know these are the more "common" silvers that we find, but it never gets old seeing that silver come out of the dirt. Found these yesterday and threw them on the scanner before rinsing off the mud.

When you dig down deep enough into the ground, you come to expect seeing those old brown recent clad coins (modern dimes and quarters that turn brown after being in the ground). But, when you see a little flash of silver in a deep hole, you instantly know this one's not clad! (fun stuff)

Hope everyone is having a good month.

You are right!!!!!!!! When you see that flash of silver or whitish color you know you have something.
  • That's right!
I was thinking about that "white-ish" color on some of the silvers found too. Some of the really old silvers even seem to come out grey.

I agree with you there. For me, nothing beats seeing those shiny faces when they fall out of the dirt. There is no mistake whatsoever; ou see it, you know instantly.

    Good job on the silvers.

  • i guess you got that urge back. it takes awhile to appreciate common silvers after digging super old ones. after that big demo last year, i had a hard time enjoying digging a merc dime.

It's funny - for you US folks, your coins have been the same size for a long time but you can trigger on the silver.
Over here, I rarely find silver but trigger on the size. Many old coppers are large coins, and you immediately notice by the size that you've got something image

That's true. I just hadn't been in the mood to get out for awhile... the heat out here didn't help, but yes, it was sort of like after that big demo last year when you got burnt out... lots of detecting in a short amount of time.

I hadn't thought about that but yes... I was listening for the high tones and rarely watch for size. I will watch the size if the high tone seems to pinpoint on something more than a couple inches... usually ends up being a soda can.
  • Exactly right, love seeing the silver in the dirt!
    I lust for silver.
