Getting permission??

I live in the Dallas Texas area. I found out a little while back the location of Parkland Hospital which was built about 1912 and abandonded for the newer hospital in the 1950's. The previous hospital from about 1880's until 1912 was on the same piece of property.
I have tried to find out how to get permission to search but no luck. How can I find out where and how to get permission? The building is pretty large with a decent amount of grass and trees around it. What could happen if I don't get permission and there are no signs posted?
I have not been out in a long time because I have not found any promising places without getting permission. Is there anyone in the Dallas area that can give me some clues as to where to go? I know you may have been there but I need an area that I can practice using my detector. I have an ACE250.

Try going to the county courthouse where the site resides in. Then you should be able to goto the Clerk of Courts and find out who the owner is on record by giving them the location of the site. I'm think there is some type of paperwork or something you may have to fill out.
