Any idea what this coin is?

Here is the obverse and reverse. Although I am ot sure which side is which!

    Hmm, tricky - can't see any legends or inscriptions on it to help with identifying - unless that's writing above the head in the lower picture? It's a bit fuzzy on the scan and just looks like a line of dots.

    Any idea where you got it, or where it originally came from? That might give a clue as to where to start looking in the catalogues.

    "Two-headed" coins like that aren't the norm for ancients. If it's genuine, the "reverse" will be the upper picture, the side which seems to be punched into a recess. It could be a "tourist copy" with the design taken from the "heads" side of two different coins.

  • i agree that two-headed ancient coins are not the norm. Still, to me, it looks genuine. Kinda looks like the heads seen on Selucid coins of the 2nd to 1st century B.C
