How do print lines affect the grade?

Thoughts?

This is the card in question although I am speaking more in general. This card has some snow issues going on too.

    ??how gay is this pose??...too funny....

    to answer your question, I'll let you know tomorrow. I have a 57 T Bart Starr that has a print line on it that goes about 70% up the card. I think it's a mid-end 6 without the print line, so if it's less than that, it's the print line. Wouldn't be too surprised to see a 6(PD) on it.

    Here's the card I'm referring to. (Scan doesn't do it justice) I did not ask for NQ on this sub, so we'll see.

    By the way, that thing is a rock star without the print line.

    I'll be interested to see the answer to this. My raw '62 Mays has this same issue.

    zef-You'll be happy to know my Starr came back a 7.

    5 1957 TOPPS 119 BART STARR N/A 7

    The pic I gave you it's a little hard to see, but it starts at the right side, going up towards the top of the card through his leg on the left just between his legs and stops about at the top of the "4" on his jersey. It has 2 NM+ corners and 1 NM corner and one 1 Ex+ corner...Centering is very good as you can see... I hope you see similar results. This has a 0717 cert#.

    If you think these type of print lines will be treated consistantly, you are mistaken.
  • In spite of the print line, our Mantle fared well with PSA. I beleive it received what it deserved with that blemish. Good luck with yours;

    Have you experienced them grading these negatively?

    I am just looking for experiences that people have found with lines like these.

    I would think ones that are not in the main focal point would not get hammered quite as bad as ones that are.

    I have a 1961 Fleer basketball card with kind of an ugly print line that was graded a 7. It may have been a very borderline 8 otherwise, but I was happy with the 7.
