Wow - it's a tough card, but not that tough. It's not a low pop card either. That's just insane. 3x SMR with 4 days to go!!

He has somewhat of a cultlike following due to his death at a young age Mark. I think it's like Tony C. & a few others as far as tragic Boston sports figures go. I'd like to have this card too but not at that price.

The bidder Scoutsout will pay anything to get a card he needs. He bought a 1955 PSA 7 from me for $98. I paid $17.

Late 60's and early to mid 70's non-sports
  • Wow! I wish I had some 1955 PSA 7(s) to sell to this guy at those prices!

It is tough, and a beautiful card with that green background. That seems a bit shady however. NOBODY ever bids like that on my auctions...HEH

Shady? You're darn right its shady... he obviously got shilled. Ebay ID chewie8791 has won 11 auctions in his feedback... 9 of which were from the seller of this Agganis card.

Someone turn him in to ebay quick so scoutsout47 can save the extra $20... I mean come on, if you are going to have a shill account, don't make it so obvious and bid 349.99... this seller is a complete moron... he is going on my ebay block list.

    Edit:

I pulled up his bidding history just for a good laugh...

He has placed 46 bids over the past month... and guess what... they are ALL on jamosports' auctions, LOL

Yup - I knew that after the first time I came across his name and said Harry who? That was years (decades, I'm afraid) ago, and of course his mystique hasn't worn off. But a 7 for those dollars is ridiculous.

even with the suspected shill bid, the bidding would be over 300.00 as a guy named ajax has a 300.00 bid in as well. agganis is a tuff card that always goes over smr.

    is the seller jim manos?

    Good for you.
  • Agganis was a great QB at Boston University and showed great promise as a Red Sox player. The Harry Agganis legend continues 50 years later.

Ajax is a legitimate bidder for 1955 Topps with deep pockets as well.

Late 60's and early to mid 70's non-sports

Still, that auction is obviously being shilled. I don't care if its for $0.01 or $100, shilling is shilling.
  • Does anyone have an email address for Ajax? I have PSA 7 1955 Topps to offer him...

    email me

Agganis is huge here in MA...and definitely around Boston. We do 6-7 shows a year around Boston and EVERY show....I sell EVERY Agganis card that I have. Condition doesn't matter....they'll take anything!!

The Golden Greek is a true legends in these parts!! A two sport star that made a huge local impact that is still alive and well today.

At the last show I did (Mansfield, MA)....I had 17 different people ask for his cards. More than any other player in the cases.

But then again...I had about 15 kids ask for Rich Gedman cards too...as he is coaching the Worcester Tornado's...about 5 minutes from my house.
So no one has stacks of Agganis cards laying around...anyone have bulk lots of Gedman they want to unload?? lol
