I have a very nice 1847 dime in an NGC AU58 holder and want to get it into a PCGS holder for my Dime set. A pic of the coin is attached. it was the Reiver coin in a past Heritage auction.
The question is would you:
A) crack it out and submit as a raw coin
send in as a straight crossover (must 58)
C) send in as a crossover, but will take AU55 or maybe even 53.
To me the coin is a 58, but would like other opinoins.
Thanks, Jon

Hard to tell from that picture, but it looks like a decent coin none the less. Here is what I would do...
1) I would send it in to PCGS as is and ask for the Pedigree to remain if thats what you want. Cross it as an AU58, but if you'll take a 55 or 53 then thats up to you. Personally I wouldn't take anything <AU58.
2) If it doesn't cross, then I would re-submit it as raw. Now if that doesn't work...
3) Send it to me for free!
4) Sent it to me for $1.00
5) Send it to me for X-Mas!
Seriously good luck and that is a nice coin.

Thanks for the input guys. I haven't decided how to proceed yet, but appreciate the replys.
Dennis - you sounded like you don't feel it is a 58 or did I read you wrong?
