There are two varieties documented in some of the literature.
Plain "4"

Another curiosity surfaced. Here is a "Serif 4" variety with an overstruck date, not documented anywhere I have seen. The "1" is struck over a "1" and the "8" is quite exaggerated. The closeup is a scan hence is poor quality.
