Was wondering if you could enlighten me - If you're going to use it for postage, why does it have to be pre-70.

There's no real reason. Just neater looking stamps maybe. I mail boxes to people with whole sheets from the 70s,60s,50s, and even into the 40s. I take out the 2 middle stamps and write the address there. It's fun!

Is there a cutoff date? You should really only use anything after the 1930s as face value right?

Uncle Wiggly you hit it on the head. It's fun. Plus it's different. And not REALLY any cutoff date although I'm interested more in the older ones, no flags and no christmas ( I already have tons of those! )

I always enjoy getting packages with older stamps on them. JJ Teaparty and other coin dealers do this frequently. Adds to the joy of a package in the mail.

Well, kinda check the stamps as you go. I wouldn't stick a whole sheet of Elvis Presley stamps on a box. I'd stick them in a WalMart frame and sell them to an Elvis fan.
