Need FORUM rules clearly posted

We need a "Rules of BST board" available at the top of the forum so everyone can read them before using the board. Many things have been discussed as "policies" among many threads going several years back. Newcomers to the board cannot possibly know all or find all these threads.

Why can't these rules be simply spelled out in a thread that stays at the top of the BST board at all times so there are no violations due to lack of knowledge?

The PCGS Set registry Forum has it. We need it to be locked at the top just like that forum.
  • Exactly. That's what I'm asking to be done on BST Board.

I've often wondered why there isn't a "sticky thread" at the top of this forum, with the rules and the finer points of etiquette.

I cannot think of a logical reason why they haven't done so, either.image The Set Registry Forum has one. With all the competition and elbowing on this forum, you would think a "sticky" rule thread is appropriate.

    I have said this forEver....

but it still does not excuse your rudeness on here or via pm AFTER Mark Feld clearly and politely made you aware of them.

what do we do about persons who clearly know the rules but ignore them anyway, even after several pms and polite posts? that is real question KOINDAWG should be asking.
  • I PM'd this information to Mark and Goose and will now share with the entire board. I knew the rule about TTTing only once per day and was very careful to abide by that rule. I was not aware of the "only one thread" rule. I was busy working on my auctions, logged-on and TTT'd my two threads and logged-out. I NEVER SAW Mark's post on my thread as I didn't expect anyone was going to do so and I DID NOT see Mark's PM until Monday morning. I would not have TTT'd AFTER his post or PM if I had seen them.

It was all an innocent action on my part and was not done in defiance as many of you believe. My first response to Mark was rude as I thought he was accusing me of TTTing more than once a day (the only rule I knew about). I told him I had NOT TTT'd more than once a day (just check the dates) and why was he on my case?

It wasn't until another PM from Mark that understood what he was even talking about. I had never heard of the rule before and never seen it discussed on this forum as I rarely go to this board. Then I receive a link to a thread dated 2004 with 330+ posts to it. I've only been a member of the boards since Feb. 2006. I didn't read the entire thread as most of it was BS. That's why I posted that we need the rules clearly posted and that they remain visible at the top at all times.

It was a most unfortuante set of circumstances and the hostility from other board members is not deserved. I'm not the kind of person that ignores rules. Obviously, I had never posted two threads before or violated the only one TTT per day. I was doing the best I could with the knowledge I had.

About a year ago I was guilty of the same thing. At the time I did not know the "rule." Mark PM'd me at the time and told me about it. I was bashed and made a formal apology. I have not violated it since.

KoinDog makes sense in that it would be better if the rules were in a simple post locked at the top of page one and unavailable for replies. that way there would be no need for members to play moderator and increase the lack of "happy time" around here.

I agree that these forum rules need to be posted like the registry forum.

I agree. Self appointed 'forum police', while well intentioned, are not the best way to educate new members of the rules we've agreed to abide by. A 'sticky' post should be at the top and should give the moderator the power to 'zap' forum members who repeatedly disregard them or refuse to abide by them.
