  • Bucs will lose to the Ravens. Yes, they MIGHT be able to stop the running attack. MIGHT. Don't forget about Mark Clayton(who, to say the least is the better of the two Claytons that'll play in the game). The rest, well I hope the Bucs destroy the Iggles. Could careless about the other games(which look as the Bucs should take).

I'm hoping Rhonde has another great season; I'm picking him as a future HOF'er if he keeps up with the Barbers.

Simeon "Sack King"??? This guy is great no doubt, but he benefited from the Bucs dominant D for many years. Much like Strahan will do this season, who btw is the real "Sack King". It'll be interesting who will end up with better numbers for there careers, as both are starting to get up there(well Simeon is getting there, Strahan is already up there). But with the depth at DE for the NYGs as well as the addition of Arrington on his side, I think he'll continue to be productive for a few more seasons. The addition of that BC DE, as well as Justin Tuck ought to keep Strahan and Osi fresh, and hopefully getting Brandon Short back, as well as drafting Gerris Wilkinson(who I think will be a fulltime starter in a season) will hopefully keep the LB corp healthy and if need be step in.
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

Of course if they lose any of those games someone has to eat a Buc in order to be fair about it.

OT - this thread made me think if the new Burger King commercial with the trash talking chickens.

"Hey chicken, maybe you want to be a french fry."

    "Well maybe I do."

    Funny stuff. Anyways, continue on.

What happens to Buccaneers? Their ships get sunk.

Bucs will be out of the playoff picture by around mid-season.

Perhaps, but the eagles will never be *in* the playoff picture at all.

No receivers, a broken down, never was at running back, and a gutless wonder at QB - all headed up by a guy more interested in eating than in winning.

Should be a long season for eagles fans!

I was just finishing up a treatise about the NFL to be presented to the Harvard and Yale libraries for use in their historical archives. I need a question answered. Does anybody happen to know which team holds the record for consecutive losses in the NFL? I imagine it couldn't be more than say 15 or no chance it could be over 20 could it? Thanks for your reply. It will be duly noted in the treatise.

Perhaps you are also putting in said treatise futility in consecutive championship games? While the Bills may have lost 4 consecutive super bowls, at least they got there. I know a certain team (that will remain nameless) lost 3 consecutive championship games. Perhaps you can do the research on that one too?

Axtell and Stalin both e-mailed me and stated that this dubious honor is held by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at an incredible 26 games. Thanks guys for the information.

Absolutely. But when the bucs came into the league, there was no expansion draft, no players held out by other teams for them to pick from, they had to pick them up off scrap heaps - it was abysmal. You fail to mention, however, that the Bucs were in the playoffs 3 years later.

That being said, one stat stands out:

Super Bowl Wins: Bucs 1, Eagles zero.

Why is it that fans of floundering franchises always want to bring up ancient history?
Like ... sure our team has sucked for the last few years and will suck for a few more years but,
we like won a ring at some point in the past that nobody cares about anymore ... but we like used to be kind of good.

Get over yourselves losers! ... what has your team done for you lately?
And more importantly, what is your has-been team going to do for you this season?

Your team used to be pretty good? F**k you! That's all in the past!
Some of your old-time players have rings? Good for them! They'll look marvelous at the old-timers reunions.

The time of the the San Diego Bolts is coming ... and it is near ... be afraid ... be very afraid ...

This coming from a Chargers fan? The same team that's never won *anything*? How'd the playoffs go for you guys last year, with the best RB and best TE in the game, and QB coming off a pro bowl? Oh, what's that? You didn't make the playoffs?

Actually, if you're a Lions fan ancient history isn't much of a solace either.
  • wolfbearwolfbear Posts: 2,759 ✭✭✭

Point is the past is the past.
Unless you're a Patriots, Seahawks, or Steelers fan, you've got nothing to be proud of today.

Your team won a Super Bowl 5 or 10 years ago. So what?
Nobody gives a good rats ass except for loser fans that are living in the past.

Nothing more pathetic than a fan of a horrible current team whining like a little girl :
"we got a suber bow wing a few years ago so my life isn't as meanless as it seems"

    OH,YES IT IS CLOWN!

How about some nice tender Buccaneer Brisket?
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
wolf...yeah you are right, Aikman and Emmitt are gone, so is Bradshaw and Franco, but this is the same bucs coach and mostly the
same defense as in that 2002 run. They know how to win it and will get it done this year.

I thought that was the nickname of the eagles' franchise?

Do you always post drunk? Why would a patriots fan get a pass but the 49ers or Cowboys wouldn't? And the Seahawks? They didn't win, so why should they be proud?

  • wolfbearwolfbear Posts: 2,759 ✭✭✭

<< <i> Do you always post drunk? >>

Pretty much ... thanks for asking!

The Pats, Hawks, and Steelers all have teams that are
not only recently but also currently solid with a good chance to win it all.

The Cowboys and 49ers used to be good way back when.
So what? My high school sweetheart used to be cute but now she's an ugly hag.

Last time I looked this is 2006. Quit living in the past.

So the Bucs, winning a super bowl in 2002 and going 11-5 and a division win last year is 'living in the past'?

  • 9/10 Ravencabobs

a 1-5 or 0-5 start will be fun to watch.
