What % of coin dealer grade thier coins honestly?

I know a few dealers who are very honest in their grading. They don't try and bump it up a grade to get more money. I know a lot of others who always are overgrading thier coins.

What % of full time dealers knowingly overgrade thier coins on their flips?

TDN said it best - ownership always adds a point.

    20% at local shows,

the percentage goes up when you get to shows with more national type dealers.

  • This should be a poll image

I see a lot of coins without rims marked as VG at shows.

At the local show I go to, it's about 1 in 20. The guy I deal with the most doesn't have grades on his coins.

Really, why does this matter? How many times on this forum has the phrase "buy the coin, not the holder" (or flip or whatever)? How many sellers over price their homes? How many car dealers overprice their cars? Does it mean all home sellers and car dealers are dishonest? I think not. It's a matter of your perception of what is a fair price and if you're willing to trade your hard earned money for what the seller has to sell at that price level.
