Set your snipes high, because the bloodbath that'll happen for this one will be legendary...

Edit: Check out this guys feedback for recent wins. He must be trying to recover his money from the "estate" and "ex-husband" card auctions he won...

  • Occasionally when I see listings like that, listed way too high, I'll write the seller and let them know. Generally, they just don't know. I esp do so when they have listed a card WAY WAY too high....even moreso than the $14 end-of-career Reggie. If they haven't been selling cards and genuinely don't know, I'll tell them so that they don't relist it for the same amt and give ebay even more of their money.
Thing is, 3 out of 4 times I do this, again, just to help and try to save them money, they write back all pissed off....so I've stopped doing it. The last guy wrote "I don't care if does say Archives on the back...it clearly says 1953 as well....I know what a genuine card looks like and I'd giving it away for less for $5000, so you can go to hell!!"
    Jeez....I've given up.
  • Even though it's obviously high, I give the seller some credit for either starting the auction with the lowest amount he is willing to sell the item for OR for starting his auction high on purpose with the intention of lowering the price each and everyday someone doesn't bite. I'm so sick and tired of seeing sellers starting their auction for 99 cents when they really want a minimum $99 for their item. What irritates me even more is when they complain that their item sold for way under what they wanted to sell! I'm not liked much on the ebay powesellers message board because I keep jamming this (among the other stupid thing those people do) down their throat!

Gonzoa, at least you try. I did that with a lady the other day, listed a couple VG '55 commons at about $20 each. Well she and I talked a bit, and she has some nice stuff (3 '56 clementes looked exmt to me, a '54 bowman mantle, a couple '56 koufaxs, etc) and she is sending some to psa. I really helped her with the cards. she seemed very appreciative. so sometimes you actually hit a reasonable person that needs your help.
