Shipping charges: A Hypothetical...

MrEurekaMrEureka Posts: 24,372 ✭✭✭✭✭
Let's say you buy some coins from a dealer. He mails them and charges you $100 for postage and handling, four times the actual postage. You pay.

Then, he buys a coin from you. You ship it to him and charge him $25 for P&H, twice the actual postage. He refuses to pay the $25.

Would you be pissed?

I wouldn't have paid the $100 in the first place.

No, because it was already determined that his time is more valuable than yours.

Once that has been established, trying to imply your time is half as valulable as his, would be an insult of the highest magnitude.

Ditto. Plus I'd never have anything to do with him or her again.
    When in doubt, don't.

Andy: If it's a dealer with whom I'd like to work in the future, I would have called or spoken to the to ask why they initially charged me what I believe to be the unreasonable 4x amount of actual shipping. Sometimes if you discuss things with others, it helps rather than just accepting it and internalizing it.

Your $25 postage seems more reasonable in this case, and the other dealer should have paid you for it, or should have at least reimbursed you for S/H/I.

Yes, I would be upset, which would manifest itself by me posting about the situation here on the US Coin Forum and revealing his name, his address, the name of his wife, and the name of his girlfriend.

Good. Now I feel like I have my anger under control. Relatively and hypothetically, that is.
