Nick, I think a stack of Mike Wheat REPRINT T3 slabs would be more appropriate.

Indeed. I've never heard of that auction company, but if they are selling that Wagner, I'm pretty sure I'll never want to bid in any of their auctions. Then again, Masto just got hit over the head by the Academy of Arts & Science for a fake "Oscar". Link to the story. Guess even the big houses need to perform better due diligence before listing major items. Better link to the story
Has this card ever been submitted to any ot the reputable grading companies? If it has, it seems like one of these companies would make a statement about the card to keep these guys from screwing someone out of a bunch of money. Maybe someone should buy the card then file fraud charges against the owners and auction house. James
I was just looking at the Ebay listing for the cars. There is one question and answer posted in the listing. Even the auction house will not say if they think the card is real. Here is the Q & A. James
Q: Hello, I'm interested in the Wagner you're currently auctioning. AS you can readily see (check my feedback, recent activity, etc.), I am a serious T206 collector. In addition to eBay activity, I participate in all of the major auctions spending thousands with Mastro, Milehigh and Robert Edwards, just to mention a few. Re: your current auction, I am having trouble with your skirting the issue of grading with this particular piece. At the very least, a piece of this magnitude would carry third party certification of PSA, SGC or GAI, or a combination of any two, which would, by today's standards, remove any doubt as to the authenticity of the item. As it stands, your where is-as is condition of sale only serves as a warning to any legitimate investor/purchaser. Let me know if you ever get it graded. Dan
A: Thank you for writing. (1) I am an appraiser, not an authenticator as I stated in the description. (2) I am not a grader. (3) To prove the age of the card, the owners had it scientifically tested. All the tests indicate that the card is old and was made earlier than 1921. Copies of this documentation are on our website in PDF files. (4) If you have a question about their test results, I suggest you contact the companies that issued the reports. Again, thank you for your concern and taking the time to write to me. Bob
I'm not a lawyer, but isn't there an extremely high chance that Connelly and the consignors will get sued back into the stone age if someone does buy this thing and it's deemed a fake by PSA or SGC?
Wouldn't Ebay be liable too? I'm sure even Meg Whitman knows about the general value of the T206 Wagner.
It's embarrassing this thing is on their site, a $300,000 opening bid, and will be sold "as is". If anyone comes out ahead on this, it'll be the lawyers.

The art of self promotion is incredible in this instance!
I like the 17% Buyer's Premium!
And as Steve aka Yaw will attest - this card is way too artificially over-aged IMO.
Major league boneheads! If a guy has 300K laying around to cover the minimum bid - I doubt they would be dumb enough to fall for this one?
