FSH - 1997 Topps Baseball Factory Sealed Complete Set

Need to feed my coin hobby, so selling this off.

Checked eBay - the last few sealed sets sold for: (Those were back in August)

103.49 + 5.75 s/h
104.48 + 12.00 s/h
105.26 + 8.00 s/h
109.48 + 9.95 s/h

Last two recently were:
90.00 + 7.50 s/h 10/9
107.50 + ? s/h 10/13

I'd like to skip eBay [and their fees] - so I'm selling it here for $95 shipped/insured to lower 48 states.

Money Order/Cashiers check/personal check accepted.

Here's some pics.:

Kids' football seasons got me busy and I forgot about this. Will try a few TT's.

Lowered price to $95 shipped/insured. Still cheaper than any eBay sales in last few months.

    PM if interested.

While we're on this subject, I've just gotta know. Why is the 1997 Topps factory set worth so much more than all the others? I mean, did they make them out of gold that year or something? image)

I bought it from a Caldor (Dept store) that was going out of business outside of Boston years back. I'm not too up on which cards or potential of which cards make this book for so high. I did a google and here were some write-ups on the set from some online dealers.

RCs of Braden Looper, Eric Chavez, Bill Mueller and star cards of Barry Bonds, Derek Jeter, Greg Maddux and more are among the cards contained in this factory set (This place is charging $209)

This 495 card set is incredible! A great set from a great year in baseball. With the scarcity of this product this is a must have at an unbelievable price. Also featuring a great tribute to the legendary Jackie Robinson! (This guy was charing $225)

This is from an active eBay auction (1 day left and at $107 + shipping)
Up for auction is the 1997 Topps Baseball card factory set. The set is still sealed in original plastic. The set contains 495 cards. Also included in the set are randomly inserted Mantle and Mays reprint cards. Great set for any collector.

This from an ebay auction that ended 2 days ago 108+shipping:
    *495 cards.
    *Series 1 & 2!
*8 randomly selected insert cards from series 1 & 2 including MANTLE AND MAYS REPRINT CARDS!

Yeah why does that set sell so high?
  • Topps was still coming back from the affects of the 1994 Baseball Strike...they made limited numbers of factory sets...as demand was WAY down at the time...hence the high prices for factory sets from 94 on....

I'd like to tell you I knew, but I don't. 5stat may have hit the nail on the head.

    I only have a Jan '06 Beckett - and this set back then was the same price as the '95, '98 & 99 ($80), with '94 & '96 at ($50).

In the Beckett, under the 1997 Topps column is "NNO Derek Jeter AU" with prices of 75/150. I found one of the autograph cards on eBay for $148.50 BIN. Is it possible that card COULD be in the box? Maybe that is jacking the price too.

OK - call this my TTT for the day. On the coin BST, they yell at you for having conversations in the BST thread, so I won't reply any more today.

My eBay feedback is low count, but 100% positive - maybe I'll just list the thing, hope to get around $110 and pay eBay the $15 or so in fees.

I bet it is because of that Jeter now that you say that. I think it was only is factory sets and since Jeter was not a Superstar yet they may be in every set or very good odds of pulling one.
