Question regarding GAI holders

I have a question concerning cards encapsulated in GAI holders. Has anyone ever had a card get "loose", if so, has any damage occured to the card. Thanks for your help...Chris

  • Chris:

The key word here is patience. I don't remember exactly how, but use a standard screwdriver and a rubber hammer, crack off about an inch of the edge at a time until the two plates start to have some "give". Once this happens, you are home free. Be sure to wear safety glasses, they are a must.

  • I've seen a card slip between the black gasket and this could potentially scuff/wear the edge.

I've had it happen on a few. They had problems early on, but finally figured it out. No damage, but the potential is certainly there.

I had a few that the card slipped in the gasket but I have not heard or seen this happen in a long time.
  • Thanks guys....I am looking at purchasing a higher dollar card, and the card in the holder slipped on top of the black gasket, or it is sliding around in the holder...I am concerned about condition, so I am thinking I should pass.
