Just venting about additions to Master Sets

I understand that things like HOF player sets will often be missing spec numbers for cards I add (which are often fairly oddball), and on modern players I realize that lots of cards may never have been graded by PSA when the player's Master Set was created, and so don't appear in it and need a request form, but I just ran across one that defies belief.
The Whitey Ford Master Set does not include the 1963 Topps A.L. ERA Leaders (#6), which pictures and names Ford as one of the 5 players on the card. This is a fairly mainstream issue, and there are several active set builders. How in the world is it not in the set already?

what gripes me is that sometimes your additions seem to get lost and they never get added. you have to keep requesting the same card over again 6 months later.

I have asked about this kind of inconsistency and was told that the cards would only be added when requested.

My thoughts are the obvious cards should be added automatically, as well as any oddball cards that get added for one player, the rest of the players in that set should be in.

    It won't happen.

  • I just went through a similar issue. The Dave Concepcion Master set does not include some cards from the Basic set. I emailed Corsetta in regards to this and was told that they must be requested through the additions page. Well, I don't have any of the cards in question just yet but I would think someone did as they are in one but not the other. I did a search of Finest and Current Finest and no one has them in their set. My question is " Where did these come from and how easy is it just add from one to another?" My guess is that someone might have requested them and not added them. It just annoys me as to why they can't be added. When I requested a Ken Griffey Sr. Set PSA forgot the 1974 Topps Rookie. The day the set posted I emailed them and they added it. When I asked Corsetta if the same service could be done with the Concepcion Set, I was told that it was done as a coutesy to me and that it is not done to established sets. Frustrating.

I agree. There are a few sets I am working on and have made requests on more than one occasion for a particular card only to have no response or addition of the card. If anyone at PSA is reading this, what is the deal ?
