Metal screw posts for Capital holders.

keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
A while ago I happened to see metal replacement posts for the plastic type that is standard issue with the Capital Plastics holders. They were in a wholesale only catalogue that I tried to obtain and order from, I believe the outfit was in California. Does anyone have access to these?? Does anyone order from this company and stock the items, who'd be willing to place an order for some whenevr they place another order??

Thanks in advance.

You can get them at ACE Hardware. Probably other hardware stores too. They are in the "loose hardware" section and come in different lengths. They are VERY similar to the posts in the Dansco books.

Are the Capitol screws any different from regular screws (aside from being plastic)? It does seem that any sufficiently stocked hardware store should have. You could probably even get brass ones, which would look pretty.

I think the screw into post type screw would work/look best rather than a screw with a nut.

AL. I would be careful with aluminum posts. I bought an old Capital holder that had the metal aluminum posts and they had corroded inside and I had to drill them out to get them apart. I have about 60 set holders and thought about getting metal posts for them. I'm not so sure now. Brass or steel might be OK. I am leery of aluminum ones because of the problem I had.

Capital sells them but I think they are too costly for the amount I need.
