What Cal Ripken card should be used for the HOF rookies set?

There is bound to be more discussion about this as January draws closer (HOF'ers announced), but I figured I'd throw it out there now. Basically it's going to be between Cal's '82 Topps and '82 Topps Traded cards. I am STRONGLY in favor of using Ripken's '82 Topps regular season issue, as opposed to the Traded Set issue. My reasoning is simple: The '82 Topps regular season issue is Cal's true rookie, and more valuable than the Fleer and Donruss versions, while the '82 Topps Traded, though more expensive and sought after overall, is NOT a rookie card. How can it be called a rooke card when it's Cal's second Topps card??? Anyway, sorry for the rant. Just wanted to see what the vibe is on this.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Why can't the functionality be added so that it is either Topps, Donruss, Fleer or Topps Traded...?
Mark Mulder rookies
Chipper Jones rookies
Orlando Cabrera rookies
Lawrence Taylor
Sam Huff
Lavar Arrington
NY Giants
NY Yankees
NJ Nets
NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards
Looking for Topps rookies as well.

The same question came up when I did the 3,000 hit club set a couple of months ago. I submitted the set with his regular Topps RC and PSA changed it to his Traded RC when the set went live. I don't know if they do that with all the sets but it seems that it doesn't matter because they have the last word on which cards ae included.

Edited to add: My first list had the traded (which I prefer) but other collectors interested in building the set wanted the regular issue. I relented and submitted the set request with the regular RC.

the Topps Traded is not a rookie card.
<< <i>I've always thought the 82 donruss is the nicest looking of the regular, non updated issues. The 82 topps traded is my favorite though >>
I feel exactly the same way.
Collecting:
Brett Favre Master Set
Favre Ticket Stubs
Favre TD Reciever Autos
Football HOF Player/etc. Auto Set
Football HOF Rc's
That makes it the 82 topps regular issue, not the traded card.
I like the traded better, but you have to try to be consistent.
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
<< <i>Since Cal wasn't traded, the Topps Traded card is misleading and invalid. A joke. >>
Come now, PSARich, Topps Traded sets, since their inception as a separate entity in 1981, have always featured rookies and September call-ups. It was never just to have traded players, but for the 1974 and 1976 issues which were issued along with the regular set.

<< <i>The 1982 Fleer is the toughest one to find in Gem Mint condition from my experience. I believe the Population Report backs this up as well. But the 1982 Topps should be the card in the RC Registry for a number of reasons. >>
That is true, 1982 Fleer is even tougher in Gem Mint than the Topps Traded. I think it's partly because the picture is horrible and fuzzy, even when it looks 'right'. It's just a flat out ugly rookie card, IMHO

If PSA saw this thread, maybe they'd re-think this. Obviously most collectors do not agree with their decision.
