1st picture with new lense

I just got my new Nikon 60mm f/2.8d Micro AF lense for my D70s and took my first picture. It is not great but better than anything that I've taken before. Does anyone have a link to the thread that explained how to photograph coins?

Also - Guess the grade...

Nice pic..............may be a bit overexposed.

When I grow up I hope to get a D 70, nice camera.

Nice image. You bought a very good lens and may want to get a 105 mm Nikor lens. Are you using a cable release and a tripod?

If you don't have a cable release you can use the delay on your camera to avoid the shake that occurs when you manually push the "take a picture" button.

    AU55.

Nice detail on that image. Nikon does make excellent lenses.

    Either XF45 or AU50... flip a coin.

I'm shopping for that exact lens right now to put on my D200. Alas, the silly things are sold out everywhere and used ones on eBay are going for within $60-$70 of the new price.

The 105mm would be wonderful, but at $900 vs. $370 for the 60mm, practicality rears its head in a BIG way for me on this one.
    When in doubt, don't.

longer lenses like 105 and 150 really help make lighting easier and better. the pic is a little harsh and a second light should help soften it. got nice detail.

    The coin is XF45.

DennisH - The lense was $389 plus $10 next day fedex shipping from Beach Camera Beach minus another $30 Nikon rebate. The best price that I have seen!

Now I just need to learn how to take pictures.

I also have the wired and wireless remote for the D70.

For DennisH - These were taken from exactly 3" away from the coin using a tripod and a wireless shutter remote. No special lighting and the camera set to "A" program.

This 1st one is the best quality at 531k - The second one is the lowest quality at 72k. I used Nikon's included "Picture Project" software to resize.

Many thanks for the BIG pics!

I've been wondering how much VAM-size detail the 60mm macro lens would be able to pick up, and this tells me everything I had hoped to see! image
