mcdonald's football cards

i purchased a few of these lately. the corners do not appear sharp but more rounded by the factory. is this the case? does anyone have a psa 10 example they could post?

Thanks,

Are you talking about the 4 card "Get a quarter back" set from the 70's?
  • ldfergldferg Posts: 6,755 ✭✭✭
sorry. i'm talking about the oversized cards in the mid to late 80s. the sets i purchased in particular are 1986 and have green, orange, black and blue tabs.

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)

The 1986 McDonald cards have slightly rounded corners....it's a tough issue to judge because of this. The main problem w/ the set is centering and tiny creases. They kill be every time. I have around 75 McDonald Marino cards and only 15 are gradeable. By the way - there were two different types of sets issued-regional for markets near a football franchise and the all star set for everywhere else. The all star cards are much easier to find. The Regionals are very tough - and command a premium.

Hey - I know this is WAY late of a response on this, but I have a question. I have quite a few of these (maybe 500 or so) and they all have tabs and I put them in plastic as I got them in 1986, so I think they look good. I have seen some on ebay PSA graded, but I can't find them on the set registry. Is it there? Does anyone still collect these?

Most of the ones I had graded were sold and went to player sets.

I was just wondering, because I think I could put this set together - maybe not with all of the color variations, but at least each team plus all-pros with tabs. Maybe worth grading if there was any point to it.

Not the same thing, but I have a case of the 1993 McDonalds Gameday AllStars. They're the over-sized cards. I didn't realize PSA graded them! I've been sitting on these since I worked there when I was 16. They still seem to be about as worthless as they were back then. A PSA 10 Elway went for $0.99 on ebay. Not quite worth slabbing yet I guess.

I slabbed a bunch of those Mcdonalds Gameday cards. They are pretty cool cards for player collectors like myself.

You just gotta be careful not to incur paper loss along surface / edge area when ripping them from the sheet.

    powdered,
i've not seen an actual registry set for these, but there is interest from time to time with the various player sets.

    good luck

    Thanks,

If you did do all the color variations, you're looking at 2600+ cards. TOUGH job to say the least.

It was a different McDonlads issue, they were sheets of 4 cards I think. You would get them from point on cups and fries etc. I was a kid and when I would visit my Grandma I went down the street and pulled so many of those points from the dumpster. Ended up with alot of the sheets. Unsure if they're worth anything. My Dad has them all now.

Just looked on ebay. Ouch, I did that for nothing. I remember feeling so embarrased but it was free !!

Only did it at my Grandma's as it was across town so I would most likely not see anyone I knew.
