Ebay seller venting

I don't know if its a run of bad luck or if ebay buyers just dont give a crap anymore. In the past month I have had buyers, win an auction and not paid, have won an auction then told me they were not interested or a combination of both. I have been trying to sell a Lebron James Black tripple diamond Jersey for around a month. The latest came from a buyer who actually won the auction and then said he didnt have the money to pay for it. Why would the person bid then? It seems sellers are more at risk these days than the buyers and Ebay seems to have sided with the buyers.

Anyone else having this problem more often lately?

  • Just file with ebay to get your fees back.
  • Nothing much you can do about it, but just file and get your fees back.
  • Good morning:
What I have been doing as of late is starting my auctions with a fixed high buy it now/pay for it now price. I also provide the best offer option. I'll lower the price of my item roughly every 24 hours until I either sell the item via a buy it now (paid immediately), get a fair offer from a buyer who has a good track record, or hit my minimum seller price. This system allows be to get paid immediately or at the very least allows me to pick my buyer. With this said, I very rarely don't get paid for an auction.

    Rich,

I did exactly what you did the first auction. Started at $150 and went down from there. I got alot of complants the the card was well over book and things of that nature. So I started the auction at book and this guy won the card with one bid and then said he didnt have the money to pay. I did get my fees back so thats a good thing. People are going to think im shilling with how many times I have posted this card. Thanks for everyones input.

Did you reply to the people who complained that your initial price was high that there is a best offer option and that if they don't want to pay the buy it now price that they can easily submit their top offer(as I said earlier, the world is full of idiots)? Plus, did you take a close look at the winners feedback before you made him the winner? If so, you did the right thing but sometimes even what may seem like the right thing at that time may turn out to be the wrong thing because it only takes one day for a good ebayer to turn bad.

    Rich,

This last time I posted the card it was a regualr auction. The guy had been a member since March 2005 and what was very alarming was he only had one feed back in the past 12 months. This may have been a blessing in desguise.
