Just got home and i see sanchez is gone for the year. bc the cab driver cant drive!

So the mets decide to send nady over to the rats for roberto hernandez and oliver perez??

How the heck does this fix the sanchez debacle? hernandez is decent but he cant fill sanchez shoes.

and im sorry oliver perez is aweful he just got lit up in AAA ball for like 8 runs in 2/3 an inning.

this svcks bc the mets are worse team today! god i hope pelfrey and maine can step up and be evrything we hope at an early age!

This also stopped any thoughts of trading for a Oswalt, Schmidt, etc because now Lastings Milledge is needed to help Chavez in the outfield and from what I had been hearing alot of on the talk shows was that Milledge was trade bait in any of these senerios until this accident.

Oswalt wasn't going anywhere. Drayton is close, personal friends with Roy and would never, ever let him go regardless of who was dangled. Heck, the Yanks could have offered A-Rod and he still would have said no image

Losing Sanchez hurts. I hope surgery isn't necessary and that he'll be back next month. He was one of the main reasons the Mets got off to that great start, and he was simply untouchable like the first 6 weeks of the season. Still one of the very best set-up men in the NL this year, if not the best.

The writing on the wall with regard to Nady being the odd man out became clear as Willie began starting Chavez over him the last couple of weeks. Chavez has been a pleasant surprise but Nady's been solid all year, too. If he hadn't missed time due to injury, his stats would be even more impressive. I think the Mets decided they wanted to employ a Milledge/Chavez platoon and Nady wasn't going to be happy with platooning with anybody.

I heard on the radio this morning that Oswalt and Lidge were pretty PO'd about having their names thrown out as trade worthy so easily.

    From MLB.com :

Before the Mets learned of the injury Sanchez suffered as a passenger in a taxi in Miami late Sunday, they were involved in discussions that would have brought Astros pitcher Roy Oswalt to Shea Stadium in a three-way trade with the Astros and Orioles that would have sent Lastings Milledge to Baltimore, Miguel Tejada to Houston and Adam Everett to the O's. Those talks occasionally overlapped with the Mets' effort to acquire Jason Schmidt, another power starter, from the Giants

The Astros did manage to aggravate ace righthander Roy Oswalt. "Well, I'm still in Houston, ain't I?" Oswalt said. "It feels good to be here, for sure. I've got a bad taste in my mouth, though." Unless the Astros sign Oswalt to a multiyear deal, he'll enter his final year of arbitration eligibility after this season. The Astros control his rights for next season, but Oswalt realizes that if club officials attempted to trade him this year, they could try to unload him this winter or at next year's trading deadline before he hits free agency. "I just have to wait and see how things play out," Oswalt said.
