Why is the lower mintage 1909-S IHC cheaper than the 1909 -S VDB?

The 1909-S Indian head cent seems undervalued across the board.
Just aquired this 1909-S VDB with traces of red. Looks under graded imo.

Yes. Ownership DOES add a point.

Or 2.
that the '09-S VDB is a one year type with widespread notariety and it comes out on top.
Were it not for the existence of the much more common '08-S indian the '09-S would pro-
bably be much higher than it is.
Type collectors want one for their set (even if they can get away with the philly, the SF coin is that much better).
There are just too many different reasons for the s-vdb being a major score as compared to the s - indian.
I own one of each and personally, I would rather have several s-indians than another s-vdb, so I think I actually disprove my own theory, but I still believe it.
demand,demand,demand.

Looks like the price difference is all about the greater demand the 1909-S VDB has over the 1909-S Indian cent.
I can also see how the 1908-S IHC could slightly over shadow the more expensive 1909-S IHC as Cladking stated.
