Sign of the times?

You know those pre-sorted packs you can buy that have 35,100,200 ect. cards in them in a clamshell. Usually the best card showing is a 1988 Topps Mattingly All-Star. Well I was looking at them at a local toy store and they had on with a 2004 Bowman 1st Year auto card of Brad Snyder showing on top. It was $1.99 so I got it. That card sells around $2-$8 but usually the best cards in those packs are worth .25. Mistake or are autos becoming that common?
