Looking for help on 1988D nickel

I have this 1988D nickel with extra thick Date and Mint Mark and I was wondering is it worth holding onto or should I just toss it into my nickel pile? Thank you.
I tried posting a picture, but it keeps tellimg me "Error Uploading File."
I tried 5 times to load file.

I'm guessing the area around the date has an uneven appearance like an orange peel. This
would be caused by excessive die wear. There are other ways an area can appear thicker.

It sounds like you're describing a coin struck from
    over-used, or worn dies.....

This is a common "look" to many nickels (and dimes) in
the 1980's, and later - the lettering/date appears to
be either very "mushy", or flattened and thick - it's
"as struck", and although a nice example of a worn
    die, isn't really an error.......

Hope this helps --- and it's based on probability, not
    from viewable scans.....
