I have seen this coin in person and it is spectacular in every way.

Awesome coin, but crappy picture. The blues look a little too "day-glo" and it has a rather hazy appearance to it. For those that have seen it, is that how the coin looks, or it is much "clearer" in person?
I don't get how people will pay so much money for obviously fake-looking color. I mean, it might be pretty, but it's obviously not natural. If I am wrong about it being natural then I will say it seems as though a chemical or chemical process got on it and it naturally reacted. In other words, it looks like it has evidence of something man-made or tampered. What's next, glitter?

John: You're right, the image leaves a lot to be desired -- for whatever reason we just couldn't get a satisfactory picture. In hand, there is a clear deliniation between the rings of color that I discuss in my description (which is accurate) rather than the diffused look the image portrays. Here is another picture of the coin from a different angle without the "day-glo" look. This coin definitely needs to be seen in person.
I would be curious to know how many folks think that proof morgan looks AT. To me, it looks completely fake in the pictures
I would be curious to know how many folks think that proof morgan looks AT. I respect the comments of the dealers who know this material, but the pictures make me think that it's completely artificial color....
My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable !
That is one incredible Morgan Dollar although I must admit that the picture does in some ways make the toning look too colorful to be real. I haven't seen the coin in the flesh but I'm sure it looks great however you look at it.
With regard to the origin of the toning, there's two choices: either the toning is AT but good enough to fool PCGS or the toning is original. (Assuming by definition that an original coin with added or enhanced toning would be considered AT; it could be that the toning on the coin is original AND that that toning was enhanced or some was added. I'm not sure, since I don't AT coins, whether there is really a difference or not between added toning and enhanced toning, which could be the makings of another thread.)

Love toned Morgans. Just something about this coin I don't like. To each his own.

I have my reasons. I posted them here but I removed them out of respect for the dealer who owns the coin.

I wouldn't either, touching it with a 10 foot pole might damage that incredible treasure of a coin.
