PCGS slabs Battle Creek Morgans with attribution

At my request, PCGS noted the "Battle Creek" pedigree on the inserts of two of the nicer monsters from that hoard of colorfully toned morgan dollars. I thought this might be of interest to any owners of the 1400 or so Battle Creek coins currently in NGC holders. You can get this attribution either by submitting the coin in the NGC Battle Creek holder for crossover, or by providing PCGS with the correct traceable auction lot citation if the coin was plated. You should note your request regarding the pedigree on the PCGS Submission form. Here are my two Battle Creek Morgans, 1886 PCGS MS66 and 1887 PCGS MS66, in PCGS True View 1100x505 pixel images:

I should add, of course, that as with any crossover submission, the coins are not necessarily going to cross at the same grade. In my case, the above two coins were both NGC MS66* and did both cross at the 66 grade. Another point - under their current system, PCGS cannot image coins on a crossover submission, even if the coins DO cross. Thus, to get the True View images, you have to cross the coins first, then resubmit them for photography. On the second (imaging) submission, you can just pay for the imaging & reholder, without paying a grading fee. The imaging is quite reasonable in cost.

The double submission is a little annoying, but to me it was worth the effort to end up with these beautiful images and have the coins in PCGS holders (which is important to me, as ALL of my coins are in PCGS holders ... I prefer to have only one type of holder for display purposes, although I do occasionally get destroyed with downgrades ... I try to make up for that with the occasional upgrade).

    Best,
    Sunnywood

At the Santa Clara show (11/06) I noted that dizzyfox had crossed over BC 1 lot 1309 to a PCGS holder with attribution.
