Buying coins in Ireland...

My stepson is going to Ireland for a wedding. Where could he pick up a few "mint" or "proof" sets while there and how much would they run?

"IlikeZARCoins" lives in Ireland and may be able to answer that question...

  • Well now that I'm back from Germany I will try to answer that question.

I am based in Cork the epicentre of world coin collecting........not. There's not even one coin shop here. Once a month a bunch of local collectors assemble to sell some of their wares which comprises of about 8 tables but.....those tables are very specialised. ie one guy specialises in war medals, another in Euro etc.

Dublin would be the best bet although the smaller coin shops charge a rather nice premium on their ranges.

Possibly the best bet in Dublin would be the Central Bank, try browsing their website to see which proofs they have on offer.

Sorry but no time to search for the link as I'm just in the door........try googling it though.

    Hope that helps.
